The Luxembourg Suite is in Nerudova Street, in the very heart of the historical part of Prague. Charles Bridge and the Castle are just a few minutes' walk away. You can find out more about the location here.

The apartment is high up, so it is very quiet and peaceful.

The Orchid room is suitable for up to eight people. Daffodil and Lotus work well for up to three people and Tulip is suitable for up to two people. Each room shares its bathroom and living room with just one other room.

The common area has space for making drinks and a fridge for storing snacks.

The Orchid Room

The Orchid Room is a huge room which looks onto a theatre and an historic square. There are three large windows so the room very sunny. There is a polished wooded floor and traditional Czech antique furniture. This room is ideal for a small group or family: it can accommodate eight people very comfortably. Alternatively it is ideal for a couple who don't mind paying a bit extra to stay in extreme luxury.

The Orchid Room shares the shower and lavatory with the Daffodil Room. If you are coming in a larger group you can hire this as well, so that you have the entire floor of the apartment to yourselves.

The Lotus Room

The Lotus Room is so-called because it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. It is on the first floor of the apartment, at the very top of the building, and is therefore ideal if you want a lot of privacy. It is quite a large room and is more than big enough for three people. However it really comes into its own as a romantic hide-away for a single couple. This room and the Tulip Room across the landing have a separate bathroom and lavatory which is shared between them. Both of these are right outside the door.

The Tulip Room

Opposite the Lotus Room, also on the first floor of the apartment, is the Tulip Room. It is slightly smaller than the other rooms because it has a fitted cupboard which takes up some space, so we usually reserve it for couples. The highlight of this room is that it has a view over the rooftops of Prague.

The Daffodil Room

Downstairs, opposite the Orchid Room, is the Daffodil Room, which looks out onto a traditional Czech courtyard. The room is light and very sunny (hence the name).

The Daffodil Room is big enough for three people.

Why is this called the Luxembourg Suite?

You may be wondering why a suite of rooms in the Czech Republic is called "The Luxembourg Suite". The connection is not as obscure as it seems.

The first Luxembourg to rule Bohemia was John of Luxembourg who came to the throne in 1310. However Charles IV (1346-1378) also came from the Luxembourg Dynasty. Under his reign Bohemia was one of the most important kingdoms in Europe. Charles Bridge and Charles University both date from this time. In 1355 Charles IV was crowned Holy Roman Emperor.

The Orchid Room is so called because orchids are very rare, valuable flowers. It is doubtful that there are more than a handful of guest rooms as magnificent as this in the whole of Prague.

One particularly attractive piece of furniture is this richly illustrated antique chest (below). Note also the four poster bed (top), which comes from Germany.

The reason it is called the Tulip Room is because tulips are very tall plants. This room is right at the very top of the building, far away from any traffic noise or noisy tourists.
The windows aren't huge, but you can still see glimpses of the city and the park.
