The Castle Steps is located right in the centre of Prague, just below the castle, and about six minutes' walk from Charles Bridge.

We have three buildings in Nerudova Street and two a little farther up the hill in Uvoz: our reception area is at Nerudova 7. If you don't have a map of Prague you can find one here.

It is very easy to get here from the airport or station: when you book you will be sent detailed directions. If you prefer, we can arrange for a taxi to be waiting for you at the airport or station when you arrive.

If you want to go farther afield there is a tram stop about five minutes' walk down the road and a metro stop about eight minutes' walk away.

There are about two dozen restaurants and cafés within a couple of minutes' walk from where you will be staying.

Our rooms and apartments are in five buildings, at Uvoz 26, Uvoz 3, Nerudova 33, Nerudova 10 and Nerudova 4 (from left to right in the photograph above). As you can see, all the locations are right in the centre of the historical part of Prague and within a few minutes' walk of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge. Uvoz 26 and Uvoz 3 look onto the park, so most of the rooms there have spectacular views.

Some of the sites are on the other side of the river, but they are also within easy walking distance across Charles Bridge. This side of the river is more exclusive than the other side, which tends to be full of noisy drinking parties. Note that Wenceslas Square is not really a tourist destination: this is one part of Prague which you should avoid completely. We are about twenty minutes' walk (or two metro stops) away from Wenceslas Square.

This area has enormous historical importance for Czechs. Nerudova Street was named after the poet and journalist Jan Neruda, who wrote a number of famous short stories about this area of Prague. The street is cobble-stoned and is lined with palaces and embassies. Many of the buildings have heraldic signs, which were originally used instead of street numbers.
If you walk for about five minutes down the hill you will get to Charles Bridge. This is the most famous bridge in the Czech Republic and one of the most famous bridges in the world. It was commissioned by Charles IV in 1357.
Prague Castle (left) was first built in the 9th century. The present building dates from the 16th century.
